Description
The AC Retirement Nest Egg Calculator Plus plugin creates printable date-based investment schedules and charts. Calculate the amount you'll have at retirement (the future value).
It supports 90 currencies, seven date formats, and 15 languages.
Choose from four predefined sizes or customize it via the configuration options. It is fully responsive with touch support.
Rebranding with your site's brand name is supported and encouraged.
The plugin can be used in four different ways:
in a post or page's content area via a shortcode;
in a widget area;
in any template file; or
as a native WordPress block (WordPress 6.3 or later).
See the Usage section under Installation for details.
Requires WordPress 5.8 or later. Native blocks require WordPress 6.3 or later.
This Plus plugin is free and proprietary. It is distributed through AccurateCalculators.com rather than the WordPress Plugin Directory. The package includes PHP and CSS source and production JavaScript, but not the private JavaScript source.
Installation
Upload the ac-retirement-nest-egg-calculator-plus folder (with all its files) to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory or unzip the plugin's zip file into the /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
Activate the plugin through the Plugins → Installed Plugins menu in the WordPress admin dashboard.
Upgrading If you translated the plugin from English to another language, please back up your work prior to upgrading the plugin. Existing shortcode, template and widget placements continue to work in 3.0; conversion to blocks is optional.
Usage
There are four ways to add the calculator to a page. Use only one retirement nest egg calculator per page, including calculators placed in templates or sidebars. You can use different methods on different pages within a site:
In the block editor (WordPress 6.3 or later), insert the AC Retirement Nest Egg Calculator Plus block and configure it using the block settings sidebar, as described below.
Add the shortcode [acretirenesteggplus_sc] in the content area of your page or post and optionally configure the shortcode parameters. In a block editor, you can also paste the shortcode into a Shortcode block.
Add the following code <?php ac_retirenesteggplus_show_gui(); ?> to your template where you want the calculator to appear. See below for options.
If your theme supports widgets, add the plugin to a widget area through the Appearance -> Widgets menu in WordPress.
Using the AC Retirement Nest Egg Calculator Plus block
Open a page or post in the WordPress block editor. Click +, search for AC Retirement Nest Egg Calculator Plus, and select it. You can also find it in the Widgets category.
Select the calculator block. Open the editor's settings sidebar if it is hidden, then select the Block tab.
Under Retirement values, set the initial current age, retirement age, current retirement savings, monthly investment amount and annual interest rate.
Use Layout and visibility to choose a size and whether to show resize and international-conventions controls. Under Branding, enable Link to and enter your brand name if desired. Use Currency and date to choose the default conventions, and Style options. to customize colors, fonts, and widths.
The block starts with a current age of 28, retirement age of 62, current savings of 16000.0, monthly investment amount of 750.0 and annual interest rate of 5.5. Each setting's Reset button restores that setting's shortcode default. The preview updates as you change settings, including all five inputs and five populated, disabled result fields. Use the page preview to calculate, open schedules, charts and dialogs, or print schedules.
Save or update the page to publish your settings. Move the calculator between other blocks using the editor's normal move or drag controls.
Block settings are separate from legacy widget settings. The editor preview reflects the configured defaults without applying saved browser currency/date preferences; visitors' saved preferences continue to apply on the published page. Existing shortcode, template, and widget placements do not need to be converted to blocks.
The editor warns about other recognizable calculator blocks or shortcodes. Calculators inserted through templates or sidebars cannot always be detected, so check that the page contains only one calculator.
Block settings do not include recipient or preparer defaults. Enter title-page details through the calculator's normal Investment Schedule path on the published page. Preparer details continue to use the visitor's browser storage. Do not place base Retirement Nest Egg and Retirement Nest Egg Plus together on the same page; they share element IDs.
Shortcode Parameters
The pipe symbol ("|") indicates a choice. For example: "tiny" | "small" | "medium" | "large" means you must pick one: sc_size="medium" Include the quotation marks around the size. Whitespace around the equals sign is allowed; these examples omit it for consistency.
Available parameters:
sc_size="tiny" | "small" | "medium" | "large"
sc_custom_style="No" | "Yes"
sc_add_link="No" | "Yes"
sc_brand_name=""
sc_hide_resize="No" | "Yes"
sc_current_age="28"
sc_retire_age="62"
sc_current_savings="16000.0"
sc_invest_amt="750.0"
sc_rate="5.5"
sc_currency="999" (automatic; current convention IDs: 0-104)
sc_date_mask="999" (automatic; date format IDs: 0-6)
NOTE: You only need to include with the shortcode the options you want to change.
Defaults: The first example explicitly selects the large layout and automatic currency/date selection. Omit an attribute to leave it unspecified; the text null in a shortcode is a literal string, not a null value. Saved user currency/date preferences can override website settings as described below.
Calculator defaults: Rendering, shortcodes, and activation use ages 28 and 62, savings 16000.0, periodic investment 750.0, and rate 5.5. Whole-record admin repair instead initializes savings to 16750.0 and investment to 775.0. Template calls and widgets can inherit saved options, while shortcodes have their own defaults.
Activation, including reactivation, replaces the saved calculator options with activation defaults. Back up customized settings before reactivating the plugin.
To display your brand, set sc_add_link or op_add_link to "Yes" and supply the corresponding brand name option. This enables links to AccurateCalculators.com in the calculator heading and copyright footer.
When branding, the brand name will be added before "Retirement Calculator".
If sc_custom_style or op_custom_style is set to "Yes", the plugin will load dist/css/accurate-calculators-custom.css relative to the plugin's root folder. You can modify the styles as needed. I suggest that you only include CSS selectors in this file that you actually change.
The plugin is built and tested on HTML5/CSS3 pages.
The modals used for showing the schedule, currency select, help, etc are Bootstrap 5 modals. If your site uses an earlier Bootstrap version, you may have issues. Please contact me.
Set sc_currency/op_currency and sc_date_mask/op_date_mask to convention IDs, or 999 for automatic selection. The current runtime supports currency IDs 0-104 and date IDs 0-6. See currency_and_date_conventions.txt in the plugin's root folder for the corresponding conventions. Example: India uses currency ID 83.
Enhanced Internationalization
Supports international currency and number-formatting conventions, plus 7 date formats (e.g., mm/dd/yyyy, dd/mm/yyyy, yyyy.mm.dd). Currency and date format are selected independently using the order below.
Automatic selection uses the browser's regional locale, not the visitor's physical location or the server's location. For example, a browser using the Japanese locale can select Japanese yen even when the website is hosted in France.
How the plugin determines the currency symbol and date format:
A previously saved user preference in the browser's local storage takes precedence, even if the currency/date selector is currently hidden.
If no saved preference exists, an explicit website setting for that convention is used. The value 999 means automatic selection.
Otherwise, the plugin attempts to select the convention from the browser's regional locale.
If the selected or detected convention is unavailable or invalid, the plugin falls back to U.S. currency formatting ($) or the MM/DD/YYYY date format, respectively.
When the currency/date selector is visible, users can change either convention; their choices are saved in local storage for subsequent visits.
Language Translations
The plugin supports 14 languages in addition to English. A translation template file (.POT) is included in the languages folder. Using a POT/PO file editor, website owners can translate this plugin into any language supported by WordPress.

Translation notes:
WordPress's Site Language setting selects the translation. PHP text uses .MO files; JavaScript text uses .JSON files.
To adapt the Portuguese translation for Brazilian Portuguese, copy the .PO translation, set its locale to pt_BR, and regenerate both catalogs. Retain the plugin prefix and script handle in the filenames: ac-retirement-nest-egg-calculator-plus-pt_BR.mo and ac-retirement-nest-egg-calculator-plus-pt_BR-ac-i18n-retirement-nest-egg-plus.json. Updating or renaming only the .MO file does not update JavaScript translations.
Use the .POT template for a new language, or edit an included .PO file. Regenerate the .MO and matching .JSON files after editing. New untranslated block editor messages fall back to English.

Support is available for all plugins. If you have a question or encounter an issue, please visit the plugin's support forum and indicate whether you are using the original plugin or the Plus version. Frequently Asked Questions

What are the differences between the Plus version of your plugins and the "Non-Plus" version?
The Plus versions provide printable schedules and an optional title page with your brand, marketing information, and contact details.
The Plus versions insert grouping separators while users type, making large numbers easier to enter.
The Plus versions are free proprietary downloads from AccurateCalculators.com. They include PHP and CSS source and production JavaScript, but not the private JavaScript source.
On activation and deactivation, the Plus plugin sends the full installation site URL, plugin name, and activation status to AccurateCalculators.com. Calculator inputs and title-page details are not included in this payload. The plugin also requests plugin information and updates from AccurateCalculators.com.
Both base and Plus versions support native blocks, shortcodes, widgets, template functions, and configurable appearance. Calculator-specific features and Plus printing options differ.
Lastly, this plugin is free (for now), but...
If you install any "Plus" plugin on a public facing website, you are required to provide a public citation. A citation does not need to be a link to this site (though it may be). It could be a published review on WordPress.org or other site, or a social media mention with link. If you are not sure, ask. An annual subscription could be introduced with a future update. It is expected to be $499. Whether a subscription fee is introduced depends largely on the compliance with the request for a citation.
